LETTER TO A BROTHER #19

Dear Brother,
When you get on your knees, or bow your head to pray to God don’t worry about what others may think. Do not be concerned if you think you are not using the right words. There are no magic words to get God’s attention. What gets His attention is an honest tongue and heart. Your words can be simple or fancy, but what God really wants to hear is what is on your heart.

Matthew 6:5 New Living Translation
5“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get.

Praying to get noticed is not really praying. It’s just showboating, fronting, faking it, pretending to have swag that you don’t have. For sure you will have people saying what a great person of prayer you are, but since you are not praying to glorify, exalt, and acknowledge Him, it’s nothing more than showing off for your own benefit. God wants more than that from and for you.

God wants you to be excellent in every facet of your life.

Your brother,
Robert
